Painting A Day : Peel

This brilliant idea originated in the mind of Virginia based painter and teacher Duane Keiser. Painters/bloggers paint a small work and post it to a blog each day. Below is a video of a post on his blog, where he paints a tangerine, peels it partway, repaints it on the same panel, peels it some more, repaints it again, sections it, paints it again, reduces it to a single section and paints it again.

Yinka Shonibare

Yinka Shonibare is a contemporary artist who explores issues of race and class through a range of media that includes sculpture, painting, photography, and installation art. A key material in Shonibare's work  are the brightly coloured 'African' fabrics which is actually Dutch wax-printed cotton that he buys himself from Brixton market in London.  He sometimes recreates famous paintings or stories from literature  using headless dummies with the 'Africanised' clothing instead of their original costumes.
